Beans & Franks

At a recent Townhall meeting held by the President, a woman in the audience spoke up:

"I am a chief financial officer for a veteran service organization here in Washington. I'm also a mother. I'm a wife. I'm an American veteran and I'm one of your so-known middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I'm exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for and am deeply disappointed with where we are right now. I've been told that I voted for a man who said he was going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class. I'm one of those people and I'm waiting, sir. I'm waiting. I don't feel it yet. And I thought I would feel it in some small measure. I have two children in private school and the financial recession has taken an enormous toll on my family. My husband and I have joked for years that we thought we were well beyond the hot dogs and beans era of our lives but quite frankly, it's starting to knock on our door and ring true that that might be where we're headed again. Quite frankly, Mr. President, I need you to answer this honestly. Is this my new reality?"

Looking at the way Obama has administrated things this year and 9 months, everything is exactly as planned.  Meanwhile, the Obamas are living high on the hog, are they not, traveling all over the world?  A vacation every other month?  Here's what Obama's answer was.

OBAMA:  The life you described, one of responsibility, looking after your family, contributing back to your community, that's what we want to reward.  Now, as I said before, times are tough for everybody right now.  So I understand your frustration.  There are a whole host of things that we've put in place that do make your life better, so my goal here is not to try to convince you that everything's where it needs to be.  It's not.  That's why I ran for president, but what I am saying is is that we're moving in the right direction.

I say, that's his answer?  That's why he ran for president, to put everything where it's not supposed to be?  So we middle class Americans are the ones with the responsibility of working and paying the tax load of the country so Obama's programs will have the cash to "spread the wealth around"?

Well i say, Obama studied Marx, and now he are one................

Biker Steals Lion's Lunch

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington , DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage.

Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.' The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'

The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page...So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'

The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
U.S. MARINE
ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT
AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.

Warrior Home to Rest

Had to go in to the hospital this am for a couple cases. Passed by the church of one of the Seal Team 6's funeral. U shld have seen, flags allover the intersection by the church. Huge biker gathering showing honor. Law enforcement cars from long distance towns & cities crowded the curbs.Local fire, police, and many other govt agencies' vehicles lined the closed streets around the church, forming the cavalcade that would process in the long drive to the cemetary. It invoked pride, sadness, & honor as i took note. Very bittersweet it was. My hometown, home to an ST6 warrior. A bin Laden killer. Now home for final rest.

Federal Budget 101

Federal Budget 101
The U.S. Congress sets a federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars. Few people know how much money that is so we created a breakdown of federal spending in simple terms. Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:

 *   U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
 *   Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
 *   New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
 *   National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
 *   Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of the budget)

It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to. Let's remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family, shall we?

 *   Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
 *   Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
 *   Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
 *   Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
 *   Amount cut from the budget: $385

So in effect last month Congress, or in this example the Jones family, sat down at the kitchen table and agreed to cut $385 from its annual budget.

What family would cut $385 of spending in order to solve $16,500 in deficit spending?

It is a start, although hardly a solution..

Now after years of this, the Jones family has $142,710 of debt on its credit card (which is the equivalent of the national debt).

You would think the Jones family would recognize and address this situation, but it does not.

Neither does Congress.

The root of the debt problem is that the voters typically do not send people to Congress to save money. They are sent there to bring home the bacon to their own home state.

To effect budget change, we need to change the job description and give Congress new marching orders.

It is awfully hard (but not impossible) to reverse course and tell the government to stop borrowing money from our children and spending it now.

In effect, what we have is a reverse mortgage on the country. The problem is that the voters have become addicted to the money. Moreover, the American voters are still in the denial stage, and do not want to face the possibility of going into rehab.

Same old pill bottle of lies deceit and control

We accept double-dealng at govt levels, & we've lost our capacity to get angry when decisions arent based on moral truth, but political expediency.  Modern political dialogue concerns itself largely with false image-making, rather than with legitimate debate over differing viewpoints.  i.e. the Vice Plagiarist naming Tea Party free men "terrorists". Wonder if we haven't reached one of those moments in time when the stakes are much too high for this kind of middle-aged juvenile delinquency. It's the same old bargain-basement politics--"We'll do everything the other fellow's been doing, only we'll do it cheaper and better." From your liberal sales department. Public officials are elected primarily for one purpose--to solve public problems. Liberal/Communists take office to create problems and tax us to solve those problems.  You and I have the capacity for self-government.  You and I have the dignity and the ability and the God-given freedom to make our own decisions.  You and I have the capacity and the God-given freedom to plan our own lives and to control our own destiny. Should we unquestioningly follow others who pass problems along to the Federal government, abdicating their personal and local responsibility?  If so, then we should close our eyes, bend over, and welcome the tax and spend reaming that is due a people who abdicate their freedom to those who wish to strip every last shirt from every last back of every last citizen. Because he who strips the shirt, knows those who are hungry and cold will always come back to be fed and clothed by the ones who are the very ones who strip the shirts & freedoms from the blind.
The present administration's approach to our deteriorating business climate is always another pill out of the same old bottle.  Build another bureau, add another tax, and put the unemployed on the public payroll.  Control of edcation should remain,as possible, at the level of the local school boards and unwanted unification should not be imposed from above.  The only choice we have: up or down-up to the ultimate in individual freedom consistent w/law&order, or down, to the deadly dullness of totalitarianism.
